PAINTING

Gouache

Oh, gouache! There's so much I could say about my love of this paint. It's vibrant, easy to come back to even after you accidentally let it dry out, and very portable (my favorite part). The first week I moved to the Netherlands, I bought a set of gouache tubes, and the sheep, cows, and ducks in our village haven't had a moment's peace since.

Watercolor

It's safe to say that the longest relationship I have had with any art medium is with watercolor. I don't think either of my parents knows exactly how many hours I spent at our kitchen table painting bejeweled ladies and majestic steeds. Today, I mainly come back to watercolor when I have a fantastical scene that I can't get off my mind until it's on paper.

Oil & Acrylic

Oil paints were the medium I had been waiting for my whole life when I first discovered them in high school. They didn't dry too quickly like acrylics, glazing with them was like painting in glass (like watercolors, only more reversible), and the DEPTH! Nothing I had ever painted with before (or have since) was quite that vibrant. Needless to say, they are still my favorites (and acrylic paints get an honorable mention because I rely on them so heavily for underpaintings).
